Kohl's Taps The Beatles For Multi-Generational Holiday Spots

Kohl's wants everyone "All Together Now" for the holidays. The retailer began airing spots for its family-focused holiday campaign on Nov. 12. The department store is broadcasting a series of spots told from the point of view of various members of one multi-generational family tree, set to The Beatles tune of the same name. The campaign focuses on how Kohl's is bringing modern families together in unexpected ways. On Nov. 20 and 21, the company will also host a storytelling pop-up truck in Manhattan's Times Square where families are encouraged to share their family traditions via social media.

Instagram Testing Out 3-D Ads

Instagram is bolstering its foray into the e-commerce world as it tests out new functionality features that would allow users to toggle between multiple shopping offers within the platform. The feature makes use of the 3-D Touch functionality available on iPhones and lets users apply more force to their clicks to flip-flop between shopping offers. This is part of the platform’s ongoing look into incorporating advertising features within the app, such as its “Shop Now” functionality.

Moving out and leaving the familiar scent of home can be extremely difficult. That’s why Air Wick launched a digital campaign, “The Gift of Home,” to make the moving process a bit easier. Air Wick's lab-coated specialists created customized candles for three senior citizens that moved out of their homes to downsize and their reactions to the unique candles are heartwarming!

Sometimes, a Cough is More Than 'Just a Cough' - Beatboxing Stunt Aims to Raise Lung Cancer Awareness

To raise awareness for lung cancer throughout November, early morning commuters in the UK experienced a coughing attack that turned into a beatboxing session, courtesy of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. The theme of the stunt is “sometimes, a cough is more than ‘just a cough'” and  to spread the message that coughing persistently is one of the main signs of lung cancer.

Crayola Now Has Coloring Books For Adults

The leading company in coloring innovation, Crayola, is now participating in the recent trend of adult coloring books. Crayola’s line, dubbed ‘Crayola Color Escapes,' has four different sets to choose from including geometric, kaleidoscope, nature and garden themes. As part of the new line, Crayola has also created new packs of colored pencils and markers targeted at grownups. All of these items will be available in time for the holidays!

Alibaba Transformed Its E-Commerce Fest Into Actual Entertainment

Chinese internet giant Alibaba is usually associated with e-commerce, but it's also moving into movies and entertainment. That said, it's logical that Alibaba brought a show business twist to its massive annual 24-hour online shopping festival this year. Alibaba Group's markdown event, known as Double 11 or Singles' Day which officially started on midnight on Nov. 10, tallied $3.9 billion in sales in the first hour alone.

Vanity Fair Napkins Urges Families to #TakeBackTheTable With Social Effort

The Georgia-Pacific paper product brand, Vanity Fair, has launched the #TakeBackTheTable digital campaign and microsite TakeBackTheTable.org to encourage families to start sitting down for dinner together again. Studies show that gathering around the dinner table for meals as a family leads to healthier eating habits, less drug and alcohol abuse and better grades. In addition, more people at the table also means they’re using more napkins. In addition to providing conversation starters on their microsite, the brand has also enlisted the help of nutritionist and family dinner advocate Leanne Ely of SavingDinner.com.

Hand Sanitizer is Gift That Keeps on Giving in Office Depot’s Holiday Campaign

Office Depot might not come to mind when consumers think of holiday shopping, but the office supplies chain is making the most of its merchandise through a series of clever ads this season, called the “Co-Worker Collection.” In one spot, a germaphobic executive is seen giving hand sanitzer. Another ad shows a keyboard-drumming fan being given headphones by a co-worker. The full lineup of ads is available on the Office Depot YouTube channel.
