Deadpool, The Soft, Gentle Romantic Comedy, Perfect For First Dates This Valentines Day

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, Marvel Entertainment has released a series of new posters advertising its latest offering, Deadpool, in a different light. An action-packed film about a violent antihero portrayed by Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Reynolds, Marvel’s posters promote the movie as if to be a romantic comedy not only to poke fun at the popularity of the genre around the holiday of love, but also to appeal to women as a date night movie for Valentine’s Day.

Lay’s Reveals 4 New Flavor Hopefuls in New ‘Flavor Swap’ Contest

From Feb. 8 to March 21, Lay’s is launching a “Flavor Swap” campaign, asking potato chip fans to vote for their favorite flavor in four “swap” categories - heat, cheese, BBQ and spice - putting a classic flavor against a new revamped version. All flavors will be in stores nationwide by the start of the promotion. For all fans who vote, there will be a $1,000 daily giveaway prize and $250,000 for one especially lucky fan. All fans will have to do is cast their vote on a soon-to-be-announced website.

Butterfinger Offering to Pay Up to $50k in Fines For NFL Players Touchdown Dances

As part of the Bolder Than Bold Super Bowl campaign, Butterfinger tapped Terrell Owens and Billy on the Street host Eichner to hit the streets of New York City and asked people to show off their best end-zone celebration in exchange for a Butterfinger. The brand also offered to pay up to $50,000 in excessive celebration fines in a player danced a little too hard in the end-zone during the playoff games, however no players took them up on that offer.

Microsoft Builds Minecraft Classroom Edition

Microsoft is aiming to turn one of the most popular video games of all time into a teaching tool. The software giant, which acquired Mojang AB in 2014, plans to convert the building block game Minecraft into a version specifically for schools across America this summer. The company will not target specific grades or age usage for the game, but plans to charge an annual fee of $5 per student, and make the classroom edition available to teachers, principals and administrators, from elementary school through college.

Charles Schwab Campaign Celebrates Heroism in Tackling Your Finances

Charles Schwab launched a new campaign by airing a series of spots focused on the bravery and press-worthiness associated with small investment actions, like calling a financial advisor or asking questions about fees. The campaign, which includes three 30-second spots airing on major networks, coincides with the timing of the Champions Tour, the golfing event for those over 50 run by PGA Tour. The new ads are part of Schwab's "Own Your Tomorrow" marketing initiative and will run through the first half of the year.

Starbucks And Spotify Are Partnering Up to Bring You Your Favorite Coffee House Tunes

Starbucks and Spotify are partnering up to bring customers interactive playlists no matter where they are. The playlists launched on Jan. 19 in more than 7,500 Starbucks stores. The music features the traditional Starbucks combination of new and established artists which customers have become accustomed to hearing in their stores. Customers can use the Starbucks app to discover what’s playing in the store and can also save the music to create a customizable playlist. Users need both the Starbucks app and Spotify account to participate.

IHOP Restaurants Offer Free Pancakes Nationwide

Pancake lovers: clear your schedules on March 8 as IHOP welcomes back National Pancake Day for the 11th year. The restaurant will give away millions of free pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and simply asks guests to make a charitable donation. All donations collected will remain in the local communities where they are raised and will be used to fund life-saving equipment, research, community outreach events, educational tools and much more.

Goodbye, Moto(rola). Iconic Brand Name to be Phased Out

Once representing the pinnacle of wireless technology, the Motorola name will be wiped off phones this year. Lenovo, who purchased it from Google in 2014, is bringing together its two phone businesses under the Lenovo name. The company will use Motorola's Moto brand for high-end products and its homegrown Vibe brand for budget devices. This phase-out is notable because the company did invent the cell phone, after all.
