Daytona 500 is Sold Out For Daytona Rising Debut

Daytona Rising, the $400 million renovation project of the Daytona International Speedway, will officially be unveiled at the sold out Daytona 500. Intended to enhance the onsite fan experience, the track features five expanded and redesigned entrances, 40 escalators and other upgraded amenities throughout 11 football field-sized “neighborhoods.” The speedway also made safety upgrades making the first row of seats farther back and higher off the ground to lessen the risk of flying debris and added SAFER barriers along all of the track walls. DIS officials said the 58th annual Great American Race will be attended by fans from 44 countries and every U.S. state. (client)

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Has New Sponsorship Deal Ahead of Daytona 500

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, the official tire of NASCAR for more than six decades, has announced a multi-year advertising agreement featuring Dale Earnhardt Jr. Earnhardt has been the sport's most popular driver the past 13 years. He is a two-time winner of the Daytona 500 and is among the favorites for the 2016 race. The first ad under the agreement will appear during Sunday's race. (client)

The Simpsons Head to Daytona 500

America’s most infamous animated family heads to the Daytona 500! In the promotional spot, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie head to Daytona Beach while many other Simpsons' characters are also seen driving to the racetrack. When they arrive, a Duff Beer pit crew (homage to Homer’s favorite beer) services the car and they are off to the races.

Bank it! Imagining Famous Roads With a Daytona Twist

The iconic Daytona International Speedway is 2.5 miles long with 31-degree banking in the turns, which is one of the steepest in the world. In NASCAR, banking refers to the degree of incline on the racing surface. In anticipation of the DAYTONA 500, FOX Sports reimagined America’s most famous roads, the Las Vegas Strip, Route 66 and Pennsylvania Avenue, with Daytona’s signature banking. The quirky mock-ups made the commute look a lot more interesting!

Actor Gerard Butler Named Daytona 500 Grand Marshal

Gerard Butler will be giving the command, "start your engines," at the 2016 Daytona 500. In addition to starting the race, Butler will attend pre-race ceremonies and even ride in one of the Grand Marshal cars throughout the pace laps. Star of the upcoming action film, “London Has Fallen,” Butler will reprise his role as Secret Service Agent Mike Banning when the film hits theaters in early March.

John Cena to Drive 2016 Daytona 500 Pace Car

WWE champion John Cena is ditching the ring for NASCAR’s biggest stage. Cena will be driving the pace car for this year’s Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 21. The pace car limits the speed of competing cars on a racetrack in case of a caution period, such as a crash or bad weather. The wrestler and actor served as an honorary starter for the 2012 Daytona 500.

Fox Sports, GarageMonkey Promote ‘#MyFirst500’ Campaign For Daytona 500 Race

To promote the Daytona 500 race, FOX Sports and GarageMonkey have teamed up to create the #MyFirst500 social media campaign, which features stories from both drivers and fans reflecting on their very first Daytona 500 experiences. Currently, videos showcasing NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Larson are featured in the campaign and users are encouraged to submit their own stories, photos and videos using the hashtag #MyFirst500 to be included on FOX Sports and GarageMonkey’s respective websites.

Daytona Gets Star Treatment in Mobile Racing Game

Start your engines or ... mobile devices! EA Mobile has launched the Daytona Experience for Real Racing 3. Looking to engage younger fans, the free app allows fans to "race" (using a mobile device as the steering wheel) the Daytona 500 from Feb. 16 through March 4. The game includes a training course and some preliminary skill sessions before unlocking access to the Daytona 500 portion. EA Mobile will also have a display at the Daytona International Speedway to allow fans to check out the game.
