Scrabble Fans: You Can Pick the Game’s First New Word in 9 Years

Will s-e-l-f-i-e, the Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year for 2013, be the next addition to the Scrabble dictionary? For the first time in 9 years, Hasbro is updating The Office Scrabble Players Dictionary and the power is in its fans’ hands. Scrabble fans can nominate words on Hasbro’s Game Night Facebook Page until March 28 and then vote for their favorite crowd sourced nominations in a March Madness-style bracket. The winning word will be announced on April 10 and become officially playable in August.

Jimmy Fallon Wants a Truck; Who's Going to Get His Money?

On Wednesday, March 5, Late Night’s Jimmy Fallon told his audience he was looking for a truck, but didn’t know much about the industry. As the big auto manufacturers turned to Twitter to send in suggestions, only the Ram Truck brand took it offline and parked a 2014 Ram 1500 outside of Fallon’s 30 Rock studio with a sign that read “Big enough Jimmy? Test it out.” The brand tweeted an image of the truck along with the hashtag “#GUTSGLORYFallon,” a play on “GUTSGLORYRAM.” Intrigued, Fallon sent out a member of the Roots to test out the Ram Truck during Late Night on March 6, securing national airtime for the Ram Truck brand. Smartie Pants! New Clothing Line’s Models Are All Women With PH.Ds

Betabrand, an online clothing company known for its Dress Pant Yoga Pant, released its spring collection featuring female models who either have or are working toward doctorate degrees. The brand placed a casting call on Facebook and women from all over the country responded, but 18 were selected. The shoots were so simple that some of the women were shipped clothing and told to have someone photograph them in the items.

Out with the old and in with the new! Goodyear has unveiled a brand new, state-of-the-art version of its world-famous icon, the Goodyear Blimp. The one thing it’s missing is a name, so Goodyear is calling on America to help “Name The Blimp.” The lucky winner will get the blimp for a day! (client)

Corona Light Goes After Middle-Age Beer Drinkers With Taste Pitch

Mexican import Corona Light is shifting gears in its new ad approach, which is a new strategy to target middle-aged drinkers instead of its typical twenty some things. The brand is pitching itself as the beer for people who are ready for a light beer they can actually taste. One of its multiple ads, which all have an urban feel, features a man who is happy to be in a bar where his feet aren’t sticking to the floor, alongside a “hot brunette” who is his wife.

Vans Creates ASPCA Collection Featuring Adorable Animals

For spring 2014, Vans is not allowing your support for the ASPCA to go unnoticed with its new line of women’s products! By joining forces, the two produced a seven-product collection with a cat or dog print to support the cause and raise national awareness. The line also includes trucker hats, T-shirts and a backpack.

There’s More to Ireland Than St. Patrick’s Day

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, the Irish national tourism authority, teamed up to send a video to the world. Using St. Patrick’s Day as a jump-off point, the video highlights the island’s advances in industry, technology, business and even rugby. Set to the tunes of Irish folk music, the video features beautiful scenery and a virtual tour of the country.

The Growlers Want Your Selfies

The Kalamazoo Growlers, a collegiate summer baseball team, are asking fans to donate selfies to build a mosaic-style jersey. Supporters can donate their pictures to any of the Growlers social media pages through April 1. Selfies exhibiting the most team spirit will get a special place on the jersey. A silent auction will take place on July 24 and one lucky winner will receive a jersey.
