College Students Break World Record For Largest Pillow Fight

As part of welcome week activities, the University of California – Irvine students joined together to break the Guinness World Record for the world's largest pillow fight. The fight lasted 60 seconds and included 4,200 students. UC Irvine currently holds the records for the world's largest water-pistol fight and largest dodgeball game, both of which were set during past welcome week celebrations.

Staples Pushing No-Guilt Coffee Breaks

Staples conducted a survey of office workers and managers to shed some light on workplace trends. The survey revealed that 86 percent of employees said they felt more productive after taking a break. Staples capitalized on this information and launched the Break Room Tour 2014. The idea is to encourage people to disconnect for short periods, in pop-up break rooms filled with free snacks, coffee and beverages. The company plans to host break room parties in 10 cities, including Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Chico’s Deems Mobile as Critical For Breast Cancer Social Campaign

Women’s clothing chain Chico’s has engaged in a social campaign that allows participants to upload photos and apply a pink filter to them. The "Pink My Pic" campaign will donate one dollar to support group Living Beyond Breast Cancer for participants who make the photo their Facebook profile picture. After an image is uploaded, a pink ribbon and hashtag logo will be included, reading #Together. Along with donating for every profile picture, Chico’s will also donate for every share on Facebook, Twitter and email up to $25,000.

GoPro And The NHL Have Signed a Deal That Will Give Hockey Fans a Player’s POV

The NHL and GoPro have agreed to a content-sharing deal for the upcoming season to offer TV viewers a player’s point of view during broadcasts. Top players in the league were outfitted with mini cameras on their helmets, jerseys and masks during the recent NHL media tour, filming the new POV footage, which will be used in promo campaigns for the new season. Fans will be able to view the thrill of players like Patrick Kane alone on a breakaway or goalies like Henrik Lundqvist blocking a 100mph slapshot.

This Adtech Startup is Looking to Impress Clients With Virgin Galactic Tickets

The viral video race to space is on! Virool, a video advertising startup, has announced that it will send one lucky winner to outer space in the Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo. The company is asking creatives to capture the best, engaging advertisement imaginable and submit the spot for the chance to win one ticket. A Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo ticket costs about $250,000 and is expected to launch in 2015.

Dos Equis Beer Gets Their Masquerade on For Halloween With Contests And Limited-Edition Bottles

Dos Equis is leveraging technology for its Masquerade campaign, including a social media contest and a virtual reality experience, to be introduced for the Halloween season. Users have several options to steer the narrative and can control some of the plot based on their path of choice, which then leads to new vignettes. Dos Equis fans may also enter a national contest to win a paid trip to meet The Most Interesting Man and enjoy a performance by artist Q-Tip in New Orleans on Nov. 22. Fans have until Oct. 31 to post their Halloween and Masquerade-related photos onto Instagram with the #XXMasquerade hashtag.

Boy Scouts Targets Millennial Parents in New Campaign

The Boy Scouts of America has launched its first campaign in five years, targeting millennial parents. To get parents and children excited about scouting, the campaign called "Build an Adventure," centers on fun and adventure, while stressing the value of making every moment count. The push includes three public service announcements, as well as print ads and social media support.

New Wahl Ad Campaign Celebrates 'Real Guys' Living Their Dreams

Wahl, known for its hair clippers and electric shavers, is launching the "Real Guys. Real Grooming" campaign. Last year the brand focused on a group of minor league baseball players to showcase real men using its products, however this year, cowboys and craft brewers will share the spotlight. In addition to television spots, the campaign also includes digital advertising, event marketing and social media elements.
