‘Game of Thrones’ to be Shown in IMAX Theatres

TV meets the BIG screen! For the first time, IMAX and HBO are partnering to bring Game of Thrones to 150 IMAX theatres nationwide. Beginning Jan. 23 for one week only, IMAX will show the last two episodes from season four and an exclusive sneak-peek trailer for season five. The episodes will be digitally re-mastered to fit IMAX theatres. (client)

Tiffany Features Gay Couple in Engagement Ring Ad For First Time

For the first time, Tiffany & Co. is featuring a same-sex couple in its ad campaign. The ad features a real-life gay couple who live in New York, although their names have not been released. They are pictured sitting on steps, alongside the text: "Will you promise to never stop completing my sentences or singing off-key, which I'm afraid you do often? And will you let today be the first sentence of one long story that never ends? Will you?" Last month Tiffany’s flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue included a gay couple in its holiday window display.

91-Year-Old Swimmer Stars in Speedo Ad

Speedo is taking its aim off of competitive swimming and focusing on everyday water sports, releasing a new online campaign called “Fueled by Water.” In the brands latest ad it shadows Jurgen Schmidt, a Huntington Beach, Calif. retiree who still swims about a mile almost every day at a Masters team practice. Speedo will release 18 videos to rebrand its image and push its brand far beyond the limited market of competitive swimming to the much broader market of water enthusiasts.

Nat Geo Wild is Bringing Back Super Bowl Alternative Fish Bowl

There will always be the popular Puppy Bowl and the Kitten Bowl to compete with Super Bowl, but to really get the competition going, Nat Geo is bring back its Fish Bowl! The wildlife channel announced it would be bringing the captivating event back for a second year, Fish Bowl II will leave viewers on the edge of their seats, even featuring a clown fish.

Kohl's Enlists Bloggers to Promote Fitness Clothing, Gear

Kohl’s has teamed up with fitness bloggers to rev up its social media and marketing strategy. The retailer is turning to bloggers to help promote its fitness clothing and gear. Kohl’s has also released its #MakeYourMove campaign on Facebook for bloggers and consumers to use when posting about the brand and fitness.

Soma Wants Your (Gently) Used Bra

Soma Intimates has kicked off its national charitable effort, collecting bras and donations for women affected by domestic violence. The “Giving Is Beautiful Soma Bra Donation” will accept both new and gently worn bras through Feb. 4 at all Soma boutiques across the country, as well as monetary donations at the register and online. Soma is using the hashtag #OneMillionBras in its marketing and social platforms during the donation time period, and is asking customers across the country to help spread the word by tweeting about it and tagging @SomaIntimates.

European Wax Center kicked off its integrated advertising campaign at the 2015 Oscars. The "Red Carpet Worthy Eyebrows" campaign emphasizes how woman can look red carpet ready everyday through European Wax Center’s experts. The integrated multimedia campaign will utilize print, cinema, social, digital and outdoor outlets nationally, including a spot that will run during the Fifty Shades of Grey release in trailers resulting in EWC being one of the first advertisers to target a single relevant title.

Newcastle Brown Ale Ad Spoofs Doritos “Crash The Super Bowl” Contest

In response to Doritos request for filmmakers to produce and submit video ads for the brand’s Super Bowl spot this year, Newcastle created a video highlighting its own product. The spoof has been entered in the Doritos ad contest and online. With extra “behind the scenes” footage, Newcastle’s “Chores” ad effectively goes toe-to-toe with this year’s major Super Bowl advertisers, on half the budget.
