  CASE STUDY: CHUNKY | CHUNKY SOUP TACKLES HUNGER AT SUPER BOWL XLIII

ISSUE:
Chunky soup called upon Coyne PR to tackle more than media buzz in Tampa – the brand was looking to leverage its high-profile NFL athletes and their moms to continue its season-long mission of Tackling Hunger.

IDEA:
Coyne PR worked in conjunction with the Chunky soup team and the NFL to coordinate a media event with NFL moms, including Wilma McNabb, Cheryl Foster, Alicia McCareins and Berma Colbert at America’s Second Harvest of Tampa Bay the week leading up to the big game. The legendary moms not only talked about the Chunky soup Tackling Hunger initiative, which donated 3 million pounds of food over the course of the year, but also presented America’s Second Harvest of Tampa Bay with an incremental donation. Additionally, Coyne PR maximized the availability of San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson by coordinating interviews from San Diego prior to him arriving in Tampa, as well as scheduling national media interviews on site in Tampa.

IMPACT:
Coyne PR created a media blitz over the course of just two days, resulting in 71 stories/segments, garnering more than 20 million media impressions. Key highlights included LA Daily News, St. Petersburg Times, ESPN’s “Jim Rome is Burning,” NFL Network’s “Total Access,” Sirius NFL Radio, Sporting News Radio, Yahoo! Sports and FOX Sports.
